FAQ’S

  • I’ve always had a passion for photography however, I took the serious plunge back in 2017 and enrolled in university. I obtained my formal qualification, being my Diploma of Photo Imaging, back in 2020.

  • Oh, absolutely!!! I love travelling and would love to chat with you about this. I am based in Mackay and The Whitsundays and obviously travel within that region however, I also visit family in South-East Queensland regularly. Check out my Travel Sessions Calendar to see when I will be in your area next and book me in quickly, as sessions are limited.

  • Unfortunately, I can’t hold any dates. Only a confirmed and fully paid booking (with 30% of your session fee being non-refundable), will secure your session date.

  • I recommend anywhere between 30-36 weeks. Ideally, you want to have a bit of a belly, but not be uncomfortable. If you have been advised by your doctor that you may go early, I recommend you book earlier rather than later, just in case you miss out on this precious moment.

  • You have 2 options.

    1. 48hr Fresh Session. One of my absolute fav sessions! This is done within 48 hours of your bundle of joy being earthside. These are such precious moments and are best captured in the hospital or at your home.

    2. Newborn Session. This session is ideally taken within 7-14 days after bubba (or bubba’s) are born. Best way to do this is to book your session 1 week after your due date and let me know once you’ve had your baby. Then I can check in with you a few days later to see how you are going and lock in your session date and time. We can either do this in the comfort of your own home or an outdoor location. A little tip…. Make sure you have you and your baby’s outfit ready a couple of weeks prior to your due date, so you don’t have to worry about a thing when bub is earthside.

  • Milestone sessions are captured within the first 12 months of your baby’s life. These are:
    • 48hr Fresh or Newborn Lifestyle Session
    • Then a sitters session at 6 months (or when they can sit unassisted)
    • Then again at 12 months old. Perfect for their first birthday or a cake smash celebration.

In saying this, we can always capture more moments in between at 3 and 9 months old.

  • It’s a style of photography where it’s not posed. They are candid, real moments of your life… your every day life. Family life, corporate life, teen life, new life, married life and so on. My focus is capturing what unfolds naturally in front of me. For me, this is most enjoyable style of photography. Real life stuff! With regards to newborn sessions, I don’t tend to wrap babies however, have them in the safety of your loving arms (more natural, less posed).

  • I have some beautiful outdoor locations up my sleeve and I’m always open to suggestions and recommendations. We run through fields of grass, dip our toes in the water and build sandcastles, have the sun peaking through some very impressive old trees, surround ourselves with buildings in the heart of our city, be wrapped up in your bed sheets or cosy up on your couch, laying on a blanket or playing peak-a-boo with it.

There are so many options and when you book your session, you will receive a detailed location guide upon your confirmed booking, which has my top spots and loads of useful information to help you prepare for your session. This is exclusively for my confirmed client bookings only (along with my style guide too). My biggest advice on this question is for you to choose a location that mean something to you. Your happy place that you love going to… a favourite park, beach, family farm, dirt road… somewhere that when you look back on your photos, you get those nostalgic feels.

  • Overcast skies create such beautiful images and stunning portraits however, if it is heavily raining, we will need to reschedule, unless it’s a little sun shower and it passes quickly. I am very flexible and will ensure we will reschedule as soon as possible, at a date and time that suits both of us.

  • Snacks and water for the kiddies and soothers for younger ones are always a good idea. I don’t bring props, as I like to keep my settings natural, simple and all about you however, I’m happy for you to bring your favourite blanket, toy for little ones or items you’d like in your session. Think of it this way… any personal item that will help tell your story is encouraged to bring along. Better to have it there just in case then to arrive and think ‘oh, I should have bought this with me’.

  • The ultimate goal is that you FEEL amazing in whatever you wear, which means you also need to be comfortable. But, without a doubt there are choices you can make about what to wear that will make your session that little bit extra special to look back on. When you book your session with me, you will receive a detailed style guide, which has current trends and styling advice to help you prepare for your session. This is exclusively for my confirmed client bookings only. My biggest tips though is to wear neutrals and flowy dresses or skirts… they are timeless.

  • You can do your own hair and makeup however, I highly recommend women treat themselves and have your hair and makeup professionally applied. This honestly does make a massive difference to your images. The colour palette and style is completely your decision, whether it be a natural or flawless look. I have discount codes for a local and very talented hair and makeup artist. Just ask me after your confirmed booking if you’d like the referral. Please keep in mind that you may feel like the makeup applied is more than what you are used to but this really assists in the finished re-touched images and you won’t be disappointed.

  • No question at all… we will reschedule! Same goes for me too… I will always put my clients first however, with COVID19 and sickness in general these days, we can’t take any chances.

  • Yes I am. Although, let’s keep this discussion away during our session and lets just be in the moment and have fun!

  • Yes I most definitely am. Gotta keep our babies and children as safe as possible.

  • Thank goodness… I’m not the only one!!! I get it… I really do. You don’t need to worry though. Nine times out of ten, once they meet me and we get started, they get into the swing of it and end up loving the session. But the most important thing is for me to keep the session relaxed and we will just go with the flow. I love to engage with children and earn their trust… even let them have a look at some of the photos I’ve taken. I’m a mumma and a wife too and I totally get it. There is no pressure at all from me. This is your session and I am simply there to capture you guys, just as you are. Laughs, tears and all. The beauty with my approach is we don’t sit still for long. We move about, which means kids usually end up having a great time. Even the big ones!

  • Choose 3 of your favourite rooms. Normally, they would be a bedroom, main living area and another favourite spot like your front porch, back yard or kitchen. For best results, choose rooms that have the best natural light! May I also suggest a little tidy up ensuring beds are made and move things that you do not want in your photos (ie: phone chargers, dirty dishes, water bottles, paperwork, washing baskets, pet bowels, video games, etc). You can add some fresh flowers, pretty throws on your bed or some couch cushions keep in mind, less is more!

  • Absolutely!!! Gosh you’re a lovely friend. This is an amazing gift you can pass on or keep for yourself to use at a later date.

Simply email hello@teejayfintonphotography.com.au with the following information:

    • Your name
    • Your email address
    • The amount you wish to purchase
    • The recipients name
    • A personal message from you to them

On receipt of receiving full payment (by direct deposit), the digital gift voucher will be emailed to the email address provided and it will be valid for a 12 month period, from date of purchase – T&C’s apply.

  • I sure do! Every single image that you receive is hand edited. With AI being such a big movement, I like to ensure that each and every one of your photos have had the time and care taken to produce the best images for you. This is where I spend hours upon hours behind the scenes perfecting your images, paying attention to every single detail and making sure each and every photo looks its best whilst ensuring consistency from the first to the last one. I cannot make you look 10 years younger though! I’m all about embracing who we are today, imperfections and celebrating our bodies as they are.

  • You sure do! You will be able to choose your favourite photos from your gallery. Your gallery will already be ‘credited’ with the number of photos you have paid for within your package for you to download them. If you would like to purchase additional photos (prints or digital) you are able to do so by adding them to the shopping cart.

  • I provide your re-touched images in JPEG format, watermark-free (once downloaded), in both low resolution (suitable for social media, email and web) and high resolution (suitable for printing). You will receive these via a digital download from your very own secure online private gallery, which is live for a period of up to 12 months. Please ensure that you download them and back them up to your own external hard drive and/or cloud storage, as I cannot store these for long periods of time, as stated in my Terms and Conditions.

  • The editing side of things is a long process however, I guarantee that you’ll have your online private gallery within 2 weeks after your session (excluding Kindy Kids, which takes approximately 6-8 weeks and Weddings, which can take up to 12 weeks). If you order prints, these will take longer, depending on your purchase, processing at the print labs and delivery timeframes (which are all out of my control).

  • I highly recommend you order all of your wall art and prints through me. I only use Australian professional print labs and the best part is… you can order them directly from your online gallery. How convenient is that?!

Having said this though, you will receive a print release form within your gallery, which will enable you to have them printed yourself for personal use only, but I’d recommend steering clear from places like Officeworks or Big W. They just aren’t going to be the best quality.

  • If you are ordering prints through your client gallery on my website, you will need to make full payment when you make your order. Delivery timeframes may vary, depending on your order, supplier demand and especially during tough times at present with COVID-19 and weather events.

  • Absolutely. If money is a bit tight right now and you really want some images printed… don’t worry. Your gallery will be available for up to 12 months and I will send you a reminder 4 weeks from then to check in with you to make sure you have downloaded all of your images and if you would like to purchase prints before your gallery is unavailable.

  • I am very approachable with regards to this and understand that not all clients want the world to see them. Or maybe there is just a particular photo out of your session that you don’t want me to share. You have every right and all you need to do is let me know. I will always I respect your decisions and honour your wishes.

When you book your session with me, you will receive a questionnaire which has a question regarding this, either giving me permission or not. But if you have any queries at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss this further.

For myself to grow my business and engage with clients, it is always appreciated if my clients give me permission for me to share a selection of their images, showcasing different locations, styles and the diversity of images that I can produce.

  • Unfortunately at this point in time, no. However, this may change in the future.

  • Why not just have a relative with an iPhone take your photos you might ask…? While it is ultimately up to you to decide how you’d like you and your families life documented, hiring an experienced professional is the best way to get wonderful results. Quality photos guaranteed! I’m not going to be shooting just aimlessly. I spend a lot of time preparing for your session before it has even commenced. I also know the best points of view to capture the moments that YOU need to be in as well. My technical and practical skills and experience make your vision a reality. Why not hire a professional?!

  • Ha – No worries at all. If there is anything that I have missed, flick me through an email or head over to my Contact page with your questions and I’ll be sure to answer them for you as best as I can.

  • Once you know which session you’d like to book, click the ‘Book Now’ button. This will take you to the scheduling, where you will be able to see my availability straight away and make your booking at a date and time that suits you. Little tip though… if you are wanting those gorgeous, flattering photos, these are best taken an hour before sunset (known as “Golden Hour”). Please keep this in mind when booking your timeslot. More information regarding this, is within your Location Guide, which you will receive upon your confirmed booking.

Otherwise, send me a DM through my socials and once we have discussed all the details, I can send you a direct booking link to make life a little more easier.

From here, you will answer some quick questions, accept my terms and conditions and pay your session in full, then… away we go. Time for us to make magic happen!
